"The Game 365" and "Halls of Fame" Host

Fran Healy is currently the host of “The Game 365” and “Halls of Fame,” both shows air on MSG and FSNY. On these two shows Healy sits down with some of the most fascinating personalities in sports, previous interviews include Jim Plunkett, Jackie Joyner-Kersee, Albert Pujols, Bobby Knight, Isiah Thomas, Tom Seaver, Tony Gwynn, Don Mattingly, Walt “Clyde” Frazier and Chipper Jones, among others. As one of the longest running programs on MSG, “Halls of Fame” has been on-air for over 15 years, with Healy having interviewed more than 200 sports legends.

In total, Healy has spent over 28 years in baseball broadcasting. Most recently, from 2004 to 2006 he co-hosted the weekly podcast program “Batt’r Up!” on MSG.com. Previously on FSNY, Healy served as an announcer for the New York Mets from 1984 until 2005; he also hosted “Mets Inside Pitch” and “Hot Stove Report” from 1987 until 2005. In addition, Healy called the Yankees games on FSNY from 1979 to 1983. He also hosted “The Pennant Chase,” a weekly magazine show that followed the pennant races around the league and the players on the contending teams on FSNY from 1983 until 1997. After retiring from baseball in 1978, Healy first stepped into the broadcast booth for Yankees radio, where he served as a play-by-play announcer/analyst alongside Phil Rizzuto, Frank Messer and Bill White.

Healy signed a contract with the Cleveland Indians out of high school. He played in the minor leagues and attended college during the off-season. After graduating from American International College with a degree in history, Healy was drafted by the Kansas City Royals in 1969 and then traded to the San Francisco Giants, where he played from 1971-72. In 1973, he was traded back to Kansas City and played there until 1976, when he was traded back to the Yankees to serve as backup catcher to Thurman Munson. During his playing days, Healy had the good fortune of being on the 1971 Giants team that won the Western Division title, on the 1976 Yankees team that won the American League title, and on the 1977 team that won the World Series.

Healy grew up in Holyoke, MA. His father Bernard played outfield in the Cardinals minor league system and, in the early 1930’s, his Uncle Francis was a catcher for the “Gas House Gang” Cardinals and for the Giants. From the age of three, he knew he wanted to follow in those same footsteps.

Healy enjoys playing basketball, working out, and sampling the restaurants of New York. He splits his time between Holyoke, Massachusetts and Madison, Connecticut with his wife Gloria and their daughters Debbie and Kara.
